How to Use the Poynt Terminal in Standalone Mode

This guide will show you why and how to use your Poynt terminal with Ackroo in Standalone Mode.

Why Use "Standalone Mode?"

Standalone mode will let you Fund and Redeem Ackroo cards without the need for having a Payment Processor. Essentially, your Fund and Redeem transactions would have two steps:

Funding: The first half of the transaction is to take payment in your Point of sale from your customer so that the card is "paid for". Once completed, you would then activate the card in the Ackroo app on your Poynt Terminal

Redeeming: The first half of the transaction is redeeming your card in the Ackroo app. You would then reconcile this in your Point of sale. Some point of sale systems will allow you to add a customer tender such as "Gift Card" or "Loyalty" - please consult with your Point of Sales's Technical support team to see if this is a feature offered by your point of sale.

How Do I Enable Standalone Mode?

1. Open the Ackroo app and go to the Ackroo settings by selecting the "gear" icon in the upper right corner.
2. Select the Advanced tab and select the toggle for "Stand Alone Mode".
   
3. Once this is enabled, you can select the "home" button.

How Do I Fund a Card in Standalone Mode?

1. Take payment for your customers gift card in your Point of Sale. This will avoid you have to reverse a card if the payment does not complete.
2. Once you open the Ackroo app and scan a card, you will now see the ability to Fund and Redeem. If you are NOT in standalone mode, you will only see the option to Fund.
3. Select Fund, at which point you will be asked which tender your are funding - Gift of Loyalty.
4. When selecting Gift, you are funding the amount you enter into the amount field. When you are funding Loyalty, it will be calculated based off the percentage earn set in the Campaigns tab in your Ackroo Anywhere management portal and the amount entered into the Enter Amount field on your Poynt device.
5. Once funded, you will be brought back to the Balance page where a receipt will immediately print.

How do I Process a Redemption in Standalone Mode?

1. Once you open the Ackroo app and scan a card, you will now see the ability to Fund and Redeem. If you are NOT in standalone mode, you will only see the option to Fund.
   
   
   
   
2. Once you select the Redeem option, it will ask you which tender you would like to redeem the balance from - Gift or Loyalty. NOTE: If the card is loaded with promotional funds, you would also redeem this as Loyalty.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter the Amount to redeem.
4. You will now be redirected back to the card balance screen, where your transaction receipt should immediately print.
5. You can then reconcile the transaction in your point of sale.
